Announcing New LinkedIn Group, SPITBOL

I have just started a new group at LinkedIN, SPITBOL.

SPITBOL is the best-ever implementation of the SNOBOL4 programming language. SNOBOL4 is as entertaining as it is powerful. Once you learn SNOBOL4, no other language will command as much respect or will give you more fun.

Professor Robert B. K. Dewar of the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences (CIMS), New York University, has given permission to publish the specification of MINIMAL, the abstract assembly language used to implement SPITBOL, under an open license. I will shortly start a new Google Code project to pursue this work.

All interested parties are invited to join.

Those old-timers like myself who still have their copy of The Green Book are invited to join as charter members.

thanks,
dave

Dave: Hi and _thanks_ for your time & effort on this!

I am looking forward to joining joining the “Google Code” project.

Lastly, I not only have (and regularly _use_) my copy of the Green Book, I also have a dog-eared copy of the (earlier) Black Book _and_ a fairly complete set of Ralph’s S4Dnn SNOBOL4 programming newsletters.

Best wishes, Mike ( Radow )
