I make frequent use of links in my posts. The most common way I do this is to:

Type in the HTML skeleton:

<a href=""></a>

Get the target link location, usually either by

Opening up the target page and using Copy to get the URL, or
Finding a page containing the target URL, putting my mouse over it, then [...]
